Why Organizations Invest in Smart Transitions
Smart Transitions helps students strengthen the practical skills and behaviors that support employment, independence, and long-term success.
Organizations Gain:
- Ready-to-use curriculum and resources
- Flexible implementation across classrooms or programs
- Expert-developed financial, career, and independent living content
- Ongoing support from the TWC Foundation team
- Scales to meet the needs of your students
Start Small. Expand When You’re Ready.
Organizations do not need to commit to a full curriculum immediately. Smart Transitions offers three clear ways to begin.
1. Introductory Student Readiness Session
A paid 40- to 60-minute live or virtual session on one practical life-readiness topic.
Student Readiness Session: starting at $750 virtual for up to 25 students or $1,250 in person for student groups up to 75.
Presentation topic options include:
- The Transition to Adult Life—Are You Ready?
- Building a Personal Brand—Knowing and Valuing Your Unique Self.
- You’re Hired—The 3 Secrets to Successful Employment Interviews.
- Worklife—The Secrets to Retention and Promotion At Work.
- A Living Budget—Managing Your Money For Independent Living.
- Strategic Saving—Money To Fund Your Dreams.
Each Session Includes instruction, a short student activity or discussion, and recommended next steps. Accompanying handouts are provided in advance digitally for printing and distribution to participants.
2. Institutional Pilot
Test the Smart Transitions Online program with a defined group of students before making a larger commitment. Student Readiness Pilot: $2,499 for up to 40 students.
The pilot allows your organization to:
- Provide up to 40 students with access to Smart Transitions Online
- Introduce students to lessons addressing key adult work-life transition skills:
- Self-Awareness and Self-Advocacy.
- Having a vision and creating a transition plan.
- Building a support network.
- Establishing and expressing an attractive work brand.
- Understanding how work “works.”
- Guide students through the creation of a Life-Work Transition Plan, a Resume, and a Professional Presentation Portfolio.
- Evaluate student participation.
- Gather student and facilitator feedback.
- Receive a basic summary of participation and feedback.
- Determine the best path for broader implementation.
Your organization manages student enrollment, communication, and participation. TWC provides program access, basic set-up support, and tools for collecting feedback.
3. Sponsor a Cohort or School
Businesses, foundations, banks, credit unions, employers, community partners and philanthropists can fund access for a student cohort, school, or youth serving organization.
Students participate at no cost, while sponsors may receive appropriate recognition and an impact summary showing participation and results.
Built for Schools and Organizations Supporting Youth
Smart Transitions can support:
- Middle and high schools
- School districts
- Counselors and transition coordinators
- Workforce-development programs
- Alternative education programs
- Youth-serving nonprofits
- Foster-care and juvenile-justice organizations
Programs can be incorporated into advisory periods, transition planning, mentoring programs, small-group instruction, workforce-readiness initiatives, or curriculum enhancement.
A Program That Can Grow With Your Organization
After an introductory session or pilot, organizations can expand through:
- Smart Transitions Online licensing
- Smart Guides
- Facilitated instruction
- Instructor certification
- Classroom, school, or district implementation
- Hybrid delivery models
This progression allows organizations to begin with a manageable commitment, evaluate the experience, and expand based on student needs, outcomes, staffing, and budget.
Since 2010, Smart Transitions has served more than 13,000 youth through programs designed to strengthen employment readiness and long-term career success.
